Help getting setup in 7.2

Upgrding here from 6 with a new 8 core Mac Pro. All the files that I'm opening (previously recorded in 6) either don't fully load or run really slowly and shut down.

I'm sure this is a setup issue. It's been a while. Where are the threads I should study to best optimize this new Mac Pro for DP?

Are there any threads for optimizing DP 7.2?

I've already turned off all the unnecessary backrground processing. What else?

Sorry, I did the same recently and didn’t have that problem. No, actually, I upgraded to 7.2 on the G5 and later got a new computer.
