SAMPLE MANAGER -audio converter HELP

Postby Daws » Fri, 15 Jan 2010 10:18 am

I purchased sample manager a couple days ago in order to complete a specific task for a client of mine:
HELP
I recorded some audio phone prompts for a client who has a IVR VOIP corporate system................
They said they needed a WAV, CCITT u-Law 8 kHz, 8-Bit Mono format.

I recorded the audio in WAV, 24-Bit, 44.1 and went to CONVERT it in my SAMPLE MANAGER but it will only convert to EITHER WAV or u-lAW not both.

I get a file that is .........(filename.wav)
or .................(filename.au)

But, from what I understand my client needs a file like this:( ......filename.au/acm/8Kulaw.wav)

I have been using the CONVERT FORMAT pop-up in the WORKSPACE to select WAV or U-LAW.........
but it won't allow me to select both.

PLEASE HELP.

Sample Manager supports µlaw (.au), WAV (PCM), and VOX (.vox or .wav). I've actually administrated PBX's and IVR's in the past. It may be the case that your client's system will also support µlaw or VOX files. It's worth checking. I can't recall off the top of my head if CCITT µlaw differs from VOX format (VOX is just µlaw compressed WAV that can be headerless or not). I think the CCITT label might just be a placebo. I'll dig into it. You might want to try the Export as VOX action with "Add WAVE header" and "Use .wav extension" selected.

FYI, Sample Manager differentiates between compressed and uncompressed formats. The former are treated as "Export" actions and the latter as "Convert" actions.

Beyond that, contact us at support [at] audiofile-engineering.com and we'll take care of you.
