Native Instruments Announces KOMPLETE 7

Postby Slovenec » Thu, 29 Jul 2010 6:39 pm

24 instruments and effects plug ins for $559US or $229 upgrade from previous versions.

It seems perhaps that NI are having problems moving some of their sound libraries. For a start, they stopped support Akoustik Piano and Elektrik Piano and instead offered to sell the instruments available in these plug ins separately at stupidly inflated prices..... NI you can't pull the wool over our eyes with this kind of shifty marketing!!!!

Lets continue..... there's the new vintage organ instrument that's part of Komplete 7.... why not simply continue to support the excellent B4 II that would always offer much improved organ sounds over an organ sample libarary!

I just get this feeling that a lot of NI's separate libraries aren't selling like NI would be hoping so........ BRING ON KOMPLETE 7 that offers yet another unnecessary repackaging exercise.

I've got a sour taste in my mouth from NI and their overall crappy support and the way they treat their loyal customers. I still can't get Kore 2 to work with Komplete and I've had no response from them regarding Evolve Mutations and Evolve Mutations 2 and why they offer a discount bundle for these 2 products yet don't give the same privilege to Evolve Mutations owners who purchased the earlier instrument.

I think I might skip Komplete 7 and see what they''ll be offering in 2012 when they release Komplete 8.

NI makes some fantastic sounding instruments and effects. It's their shifty marketing and support that I don't like.

It took me a while to upgrade Komplete so most likely that will happen again. Meanwhile, Reaktor 5.5 (beta) is fun fun fun.

Here are some free AppleLoops (green) done with Reaktor:

Yeah Komplete 7 is a total meh. Nothing terribly interesting or worth it. I'll wait till 8 if they include a new Battery.

Really? Wow!
I never thought people would dislike it!
I don't own Komplete but I'm thinking this is a good time to jump in.
Is it the price?

@slovenec- does Kore2 not work at all?

Did you buy 6 as an Upgrade or brand new?
You talk to them about a possible discount?
Every company has to have a cutoff point for free upgrades, I don't think it matters where the cutoff point is, someone will be upset by it.
I bought an upgrade to K6 with the last $150 I had to spend on music for quite some time, and before it arrived from the online music store, NI announced the 1/2 off upgrade sale. I've won some and lost some, this time I lost, but really, I made out like a bandit in the past playing my cards right so...

Komplete and Kore 2 have never worked properly for me. I've installed the required patch for them to work 'seemlessly''(!) together and then Kore starts this crap about not being able to locate the directory for the sounds etc etc yadda yadda yadda and it's all sitting there correctly installed on my sound library drive! I've tried changing drive paths etc but to no avail. To top things off with Kore 2, each time I try to get the blody thing running, it crashes because it's not wanting to recognise certain other 3rd party plugs in my system.

The whole Kore 2/Komplete experience for me has been a real piss off even though NI's instruments and effects are excellent when used separately.

Any suggestions are most welcome. :)

I didn't like it because Komplete used to be about getting the new version of software or getting more software that you might not necessarily buy for the same price as one or two pieces. Now its just a bigger library for updates that are already available to previous owners. Its a great way to jump into NI products if you haven't in the past but it seems recently they've cut down on the software you get instead of expanding it.

Well said! :)

Here's some good examples of what you wrote.....

Komplete 7 has all the scarbee vintage keyboard instruments--- Komplete 5 came with Elektrik Piano and Akoustik Piano!
Komplete 7 has some new sample based organi instrument---- Komplete 5 came with B4 II!! (I'd say vastly superior to simply playing back some organ samples).
Komplete 7 has some new specialised Reaktor synths---- Komplete 5 came with Pro53 (one of the best sounding synths around).
The biggest addition to Komplete 7 is the Reaktor 5.5 upgrade.
Besides a smattering a new sounds (60s drums, MM Bass, Traktor DJ fx and the new guitar amp emulator), there's very little in K7 that wasn't already in K5 except this time the sounds are repackaged with different names!

Unless you purchased K6 last year and hadn't purchased any previous Komplete bundles beforehand, then K7 is seriously hardly worth upgrading too. If you haven't got any NI instruments or effects, then perhaps K7 might be worth getting.

I think I'll skip Komplete 7 and might use that $200 for the Reason 5/Record 1.5 upgrade and wait and see what Komplete 8 will have to offer in 2011!

When is Native Instruments going to finally realise that we're not blinded by their slippery marketing tactics and it seems that sadly, NI are very quickly going down the same dammed marketing path as the friends over at Waves.

NI announced that Reactor 5.5 will be available to all Reactor 5 users in September.
Don't know why the wait, but there it is.

Good. That's alas the only interesting thing I saw in the Komplete 7 upgrade myself.

Reaktor 5.5 is already available as a public beta, which is why the wait (to fix all the significant bugs reported presumably).

Reaktor 5.5 instrument 'Prism' will sell for $80 I believe, and the new Convolution 'add-on' 'Reflektor' for Guitar Rig (which our 'mobilegazer' did some work for on IR/programs design and has several unique features that set it apart) is $119 (again if I recall correctly). Komplete 7 Upgrade is $199 at Sweetwater.

These are two products I would buy already and are included at same price of upgrade so EVERYTHING else of the upgrade price is a bonus, no brainer upgrade for me ;-)

I'm not quibbling with the $199 upgrade price which I also think is quite decent for someone coming from an earlier version of Komplete. My quibble is the sneaky way that NI repackage supposedly discontinued products and make out as if they've something completely new whilst charging users of the older products to 'upgrade' to the new products. This is what stinks in my humble opinion.

Why can't NI just continue supporting the B4 organ and forget about introducing a new sampled organ instrument? This is just one example of their sneaky marketing!
