EXSManager 3.0 question

Postby audio3 » Sat, 31 Jul 2010 12:32 pm

Hi
I've raked through the user guide but still am alittle confused. I would like to place both my instrument and sample folders on an external drive. Is this possible?
To set up do I just need to drag my instruments and then samples into the Manager's "Libraries" area?
Do I need to create an alias for the instruments to place on the hard drive where Logic is in app support/logic ????
Any help is appreciated!
Thank you!

Yes.

Yes, you should first drag and drop your folders to the Libraries area all at once to define your library, then scan and relink it. After that , you should create an alias for the instruments folder and then place it in

~/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments/

Check the following video I just made for you :

Hi Andrea,
That's fantastic. Extremely helpful!!!!
One other question. As I add new ones do I need to go through this entire process again?

Thank you!!!!!!!!

If you are adding files to your external drive, you will just have to add the files, then scan and relink.
The alias is made just once as it's for the complete instrument folder, whatever its content.

If instead you are adding a 2nd external drive, yes, you will have to scan, relink and also create the new (2nd) alias.

Keep in mind that ProManager/ExsManager by design will not scan aliases, so you will always have to point it to the real folders, whatever they are (internal drive, external drive, etc).
