Prosoniq has unveiled sonicWORX • Pro, a new version of their venerable audio editor hailed as “a totally new approach to audio editing.” The original sonicWORX was extremely advanced in the days when Mac OS 7 was better known as System 7, but was discontinued in 2003. Even so, many users kept a Mac capable of running OS 9 around just for sonicWORX. For these users, the future arrives in Germany next week.

sonicWORX • Pro uses the “latest advances in DSP to split audio signals into their components allowing you to view and edit audio based on the actual sounds present within the mix. Working in tandem with intelligent pattern detection used for signal separation and realtime mouse-over preview, their high-resolution time-frequency transform technology helps to quickly identify, select and isolate interesting features in a mix, such as individual notes, instruments and voice.” Prosoniq expects this will be an incredibly versatile tool for micro-editing as well as easy suppressing, extracting or processing instruments within a mix for remixing, mastering or restoration.

Prosoniq also announced that it will discontinue development of its Windows products starting June 1st, 2009. Existing Windows products will continued to be sold until that date, and updates will be available until the end of 2009. Users who wish to crossgrade from the latest version of their Windows product to the Mac counterpart are encouraged to do so for free by contacting Prosoniq.
